MINISTRY ENVIRONMENT

Conceptual & Creative
The competition brief requested a new 40,000-square-meter headquarters for the Ministry of Environment on the outskirts of Ankara, Turkey’s capital. In response, GAD proposed a fundamentally different approach to government architecture — replacing the traditional single monumental structure with a network of smaller, human-scaled buildings. This interconnected complex not only allows for a more accessible and approachable environment, but also supports phased development over time, as intended in the project plan. Moreover, the design of separate buildings enables individual entrances and tailored security arrangements to be incorporated effectively.
GAD Foundation works to positively affect practice and theory in architecture and urbanism with a focus on education, society and their intersection with architecture and urbanism.
