PARK ORMAN

Nature Meets Culture
The Park Orman project is a plan for development in the Park Orman natural forest in Istanbul, Turkey. This is a proposal that investigates the potential fluid & organic forms to solve the complexities of a heavily wooded site. Park Orman is one of the most beautiful natural settings in Istanbul, and is the location of numerous cultural & entertainment events. Therefore, the goal of this proposal is to insert a number of structures, including restaurants, artist studios, and gardens, while maintaining the inherent natural beauty in the site.
The Park Orman project includes a program of retail, parks & entertainment venues, and also studios, children’s playgrounds and sculpture gardens. There are also a number of proposed upgrades to the park, including a renovated trail system and a number of new parking areas. The intention of the new development is to provide a destination point within the park, which will serve as a cultural institution set within the forest. This project strives to combine architecture, art, and the natural beauty of Park Orman in an organic synthesis of forms, with the ambition to blur the lines between the three.
