Divan Kurucesme Documentary

 

A short documentary film presented by architect Oguz Cankan featuring the architecture of the Divan Kurucesme located in the Kurucesme district of Besiktas, Istanbul by GAD Architecture led by architect Gokhan Avcioglu was premiered on YouTube. The film and the architecture of this project addresses the urban setting on the Bosphorus Strait of Istanbul, the city’s most prominent topographic feature and an important part of Istanbul’s identity. We see in this film the shoreline of the Bosphorus on both the Asian and European side with its historical urban fabric that is a cultural heritage zone. Architect Cankan of GAD remarks, “ This is the only building on the Bosphorus in an area that is full of hotels and other spaces for hospitatlity that was designed specifically for it’s program as an event space.”
