1_3 activities / 4 scales

Each group is to select 3 sports or activities that is representative of Paris Analyze each sport or activity at 4 different scales

A – biomechanics/anthropometric – the inner muscular and skeletal responsiveness 5 diagrams minimum

B- the body’s relationship to the sport/activity – dynamics/movements 5 diagrams minimum

C- Tools, equipment and clothes particular to that activities or sport 5 diagrams minimum

D- Urban deployment of the sport or activity 5 diagrams minimum

A total of 60 diagrams/visual studies

2_Physical and digital 3d models

Each group can either pick 1 of their 3 sports or activities or select all 3 to create the following 3d models: Select 5 diagrams out of your 60 diagrams to translate them into physical and digital models. Use the same 5 diagrams for both the physical and digital models. the diagrams and models should reflect motion/change over time of your chosen analytical objects/activity/etc

5 physical models –

Explore and use different materials with each new model. The selection of the materials should relate strategically to the intent of the model i.e., if the model’s intention is to express elasticity then choose a material that best exemplifies this characteristic.

5 digital models – Build a digital model that continues and extends the 3 dimensional qualities you started with the physical.

3_Model diagrams Create 5 descriptive diagrams of your models. Include explanatory notes describing the spatial, formal and material qualities.

Include a summary that shows how these studies/diagram can possibly translate into architecture, or the beginnings of your sports complex. How do these strategies begin to affect your site? How can your propose programmatic projections of assignment 1 be integrated into these 3d studies? Incorporate your analysis into the site

Presentation: March 21 Preliminary review and desk critics March 27 pm – March 28 am Pin-up and models, student group presentations – The presentation is to include all 3 parts of the assignment and summary.
